A change of plans...

Jory and I had planned on going to the cabin to celebrate Independence Day...however Great Grandpa Dar got sick so we had a big change of plans and headed out to Denver. G'pa Dar lives in Baggs, WY, but there is no hospital there so they flew him out to Denver from the small Craig, CO hopsital he was at on Friday morning.
I'm happy to report that he is doing well. They thought he was having a series of mini strokes, but it turns out that he is having seizures. Which does not sound fun either, but they can treat seizures to a certain degree so that is better. Plus they think that they are being caused by something viral, and we were told that is also good, but I'm not sure how.
Grandpa was so happy and smiling when we got to see him in the Critical Care Unit and we were happy when his nice nurse let us sneak the babies back to cheer him up even more. Jory said he was leaning so far out of the bed to see the kids that he thought he might fall on the floor. On Sunday they moved him to a regular room so we didn't have to be so sneaky and the kids got to see him one more time before the long drive home.
I regret to report that I didn't take one freaking picture while we were out there. The picture above is G'pa Dar with all his great grands (minus the three that are still baking) at Easter this year. I know, I know I'm so bad about taking pictures sometimes and so good about it at other times. We took I-70 out to Denver which takes an hour longer than I-80, but it was worth every minute. That was a beautiful drive! Vail, CO is gorgeous and I would love to make it a vacation spot to go river rafting and hiking when the girls get a little older.
