Okay, so I hit a kid on a scooter. I'd like to say it isn't my fault, but to be honest I don't even know the law regarding those stupid things anyway. Are they pedestrians or are they motorists?
I was stopped at a two way stop waiting to turn right which was up hill. There were at least two other cars behind me waiting to turn as well. So, I'm looking left, down hill and traffic clears. I had my blinker on and about a dozen cars went by while I waited my turn to go. I started turning right as I started looking right and there he was. A kid about 14-15 years old, coming downhill, on the side walk, on the wrong side of the road, not wearing a helmet, pulled out right in front of me. He slammed on the break and the scooter stopped, but he did not. He flew over the handle bars of this scooter and made impact with the car. When he hit the car I couldn't see him so I'm not sure if he hit his head or hand or whatever. He jumped right up and I jumped right out of the car. I apologized profusely and he laughed and told me he was fine. I asked him at least, at least five times if he was okay and he said he was. He said he was really, really okay.
So, we went on our merry ways. I was pretty shook up. It really freaked me out, but in the end I didn't loose too much sleep over it. Not nearly as shaking as today's dresser event, but all the same I hope I don't get anymore surprise adrenaline rushes anytime soon.
The dressers are all now safely anchored to the wall. I hope all of your furniture is too.

I'll tell you what they are... they're a pain in the... well, you get the idea. I'm one of those evil people who say keep the bikes in the gravel on the side of the road too. Hey - that's where I ride my horse. If there is a car, I'm not on the asphault. Jeez!
Anyway. I am glad to hear that you're safe, and he's safe. I don't know the rules either, but my opinion (yes, opinion) is that anything with wheels should be accountable to bike rules, as in, ride with traffic and have a helmet. But since I'm one of those weird old school people who remember what cross-walks are for... go figure.
This is about the time I ask about the dresser shaking. Did we have an earthquake in Salt Lake? I guess I missed it. Must have been sleeping too hard. LOL. Or engrossed in writing my next book - I submitted a proposal to my publisher at about 1am last night, so you never know.
Don't let it eat at you. With today's irresponsible adults (What? The world shouldn't be handed to me on a silver platter), who make irresponsible kids, flying adolescents is bound to happen.
Hugs & Kisses girl!
